Welcome to the April -13 edition of SWENEWS letter on Cryptology. In our attempt to bring to you several diversified areas in the field of computation and software technologies, we have chosen cryptology for this month. Just as security and privacy is one of the basic needs of human civilization, information and secure communication is of topmost priority for any communication system. Cryptology in Greek means ‘study of hidden secret’. It is about designing methods that overcome adversaries related to various aspects of information security such as confidentiality, integrity, authentication etc. This is an inter disciplinary field consisting of Mathematics, Computer hardware and software technologies.
There has been a history of controversial legal issues around this area. This area is central to Digital rights management. In the thematic section we introduce few areas covering history of cryptology, cryptanalysis, and other articles of relevance. Last year our SITE school has successfully conducted prestigious “National workshop on Cryptology-2012”. Through this edition we encourage students to actively take up research in this challenging area. Cryptology Research Society of India (CRSI) has been encouraging young researchers to conduct and share their research with others.
The other sections of interest to young population include latest gaming softwares, gadgets and upcoming events of technical interest. We have a mentoring article on choosing right IDEA for building an entrepreneurial career.
